Creating Community, Inspiring Change
Hero’s Haven Origin
Founded in April 2021 by Daniel Cano, a retired Air Force veteran. Daniel’s extensive military and post-military career equipped him with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by veterans, particularly those transitioning back to civilian life. His commitment to helping veterans led him to create a unique housing model dedicated to providing stable, supportive environments for homeless veterans.
The idea for Hero’s Haven was born out of a pivotal conversation in October 2020 between Daniel and a long-time veteran friend. During their discussion, his friend asked, “If you could do anything, what would you do?” Daniel’s immediate response was, “If I could dedicate myself and focus on helping needy veterans, that’s what I would want to do.” This heartfelt realization ignited Daniel’s passion and set him on a mission to support veterans in need, ultimately leading to the creation of Hero’s Haven.

Our Mission and Vision
Mission Statement
At Hero’s Haven, our mission is to provide a safe and supportive community for homeless veterans, empowering them to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. We offer more than just housing; we provide a comprehensive support system that addresses the multifaceted challenges our heroes face, including mental health services, job assistance, and a strong sense of camaraderie.
Vision for the Future
Our vision is to expand Hero’s Haven into a nationwide network of supportive housing communities where veterans can find stability, purpose, and the resources they need to thrive. We aim to be a model of veteran support, inspiring other organizations to adopt holistic approaches to helping veterans transition back to civilian life.
Daniel Cano
Founder & CEO
Originally from El Paso, Texas, Daniel enlisted in the United States Air Force right out of high school with the intention of serving one term before returning home. Instead, he dedicated 20 years to the Air Force, retiring in 2009. Following his military service, Daniel worked as a government employee for an additional ten years, continuing his commitment to serving his country and its citizens. His extensive experience in the military and government sectors provided him with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by veterans transitioning back to civilian life.
In October of 2020, a conversation with a long-time veteran friend profoundly impacted Daniel’s life direction. His friend asked, “If you could do anything, what would you do?” Daniel’s heartfelt response was, “If I could dedicate myself and focus on helping needy veterans, that’s what I would want to do.” This conversation ignited Daniel’s passion for supporting homeless veterans, leading him to resign from his government job and fully commit to this cause.
In April 2021, Daniel founded Hero’s Haven, a property investment housing model dedicated to the betterment of needy homeless veterans. He works closely with non-profits to find and place homeless veterans in respectable homes, offering them a hand up rather than a handout. Daniel’s mission is driven by his belief that veterans deserve more and that providing stable housing and support can help them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Through Hero’s Haven, Daniel has created a community where veterans can find stability and support, surrounded by others who understand their unique struggles. His personal experiences and dedication to serving others continue to inspire and drive the success of Hero’s Haven.
